19 year old Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie has admitted he’s hoping for a big move to Manchester United in the future.
Talking to Sky Italia he said: “Now I want to learn Italian tactics but in the future, I like the Premier League. I’d like to play for Manchester United. I don’t know if [Jose] Mourinho will be there, but Manchester United has always been my favourite team.”
The youngster is on top form right now, scoring five goals in four matches in all competitions for the Serie A side.
He has already been capped 4 times by Ivory Coast and he joined Atalanta in 2015 but spent last season on loan at Cesena in Serie, playing 37 games, scoring 4 times. His prefered position is defensive/holding midfield, so his scoring record this season becomes even more impressive.
It will come as no surprise that his idols are Yaya Toure and Michael Essien. Two powerhouse midfielders! “I have two role models in football, Essien and Yaya Toure, I am inspired a little by both. Essien runs a lot, Yaya is more offensive. They told me I have to work so much more to reach the highest levels”.
He’s been on the radar of many teams ever since he burst onto the scene in 2013 at the U17s World Cup, and Kessie has revealed he’s already rejected an offer from one of football’s biggest clubs. “In 2013, after Under-17 World Cup, Juventus wanted me, but I had watched AC Milan and I loved [Andriy] Shevchenko,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Sunderland were also chasing his signature, but he admits the move didn’t excite him enough.
One thing we are sure about is that Franck Kessie is one to keep an eye on for the future. A big move could be on the cards!
